About This Event

Build, detail, and glaze your own ceramic altar using slabs, coils, and underglazes to craft a personalized piece rich in meaning

Day 1: Students will design and create a ceramic altar using hand-building techniques. Using slabs, coils, and/or pinch pots, students will construct the individual components and assemble them into a small sculptural structure. Students will have the opportunity to personalize their altars with surface embellishments and textures.

Day 2: Students will then apply underglaze to create a finished piece. The project emphasizes the process of building, assembling, and experimenting with clay while encouraging students to think about how objects and symbols can communicate personal meaning.
