Book Club Night & Reunion

Hard to believe, but it’s been 16 years since Lafayette Book Store closed its doors for the last time. Hard also to believe, but it’s been 25 years since Elizabeth Rosner’s incredible debut novel, The Speed of Light, first hit our shelves and became the only book we ever offered as a money-back guarantee (400 hardcovers sold, only one returned!) and a hugely popular book among our 200+ registered book clubs.

To celebrate we decided to bring our old community back together by hosting a very special two-in-one evening.Former bookstore manager Linda Grana, her current employer Reasonable Books in Lafayette, and myself are hosting a night of festivities at Lafayette’s Town Hall Theatre—here’s what’s in store:

• In Conversation: Elizabeth Rosner on stage with Dave Simpson and Linda Grana, sharing stories about The Speed of Light and its deep relationship with the bookstore and its impact on readers world-wide

• Special Tribute: A brief moment honoring our dear late friend Ron Shoop (the Random House publisher’s rep who first introduced us to Liz and her novel).

• Lafayette Book Store Reunion: After the presentation there will be a book signing, no-host bar, and time to mix and mingle with former Lafayette Book Store staff and customers.
