apnek Trust USA Fun Run Supports Education and Wellness for Zimbabwe Children

The Kapnek Trust USA will host a Family Fun Run, Walk and Carnival at Moraga Commons Park (1425 St. Marys Road, Moraga) on Sunday, August 30, 2026 starting at 9:00am. This event supports early childhood education, nutrition and AIDS prevention programs for children and families in Zimbabwe.

Along with a 5K run and a 1K children’s run/walk, event participants will be treated to a healthy brunch, carnival games, a rock wall and jumpy house, and live music by the Chinayakare Ensemble, an Oakland-based band that is dedicated to traditional Zimbabwean dance, music, and cultures. There will also be arts and crafts, and prizes for the top three finishers. Every participant will receive a commemorative t-shirt.

"We're a fundraising arm for the Kapnek Trust in Zimbabwe, which improves child health by establishing preschools where kids can receive vaccines, medicine and food," says Kapnek USA Executive Director Dr. Daniel Robbins. "The Fun Run helps to raise community awareness and increase much needed financial support. Our hope is to raise sufficient funds from the event to refurbish and operate a new preschool where 80 children will receive a daily meal, health checks and early childhood education for a year”.

For the past 22 years, the Trust has developed and implemented initiatives that continue to prevent HIV/AIDS by providing care to over 100,000 patients per year. In addition, the Trust support 134 preschools that provide 11,450 children with a daily meal, early childhood education and regular health checks. In addition, 4,400 children with disabilities are supported each year by the Trust at the Harare Children’s Hospital.
