Jim Roethe, Enchanted Tales for Quizzical Kids

Jim Roethe will speak about his new Childrens Book with his illustrator Michael Gilmore.

Among Jim Roethe’s many talents is that of storyteller, a skill he’s honed creating stories to read to his eight grandchildren. Here, he’s compiled a collection of 12 bird-filled stories for children. Each tale includes a bird, a cast of memorable animals, and a small moral woven through the adventure. Jim will be joined by the book’s illustrator, Michael Gilmore, and together they discuss the making of this new collection.

James Roethe is a retired attorney who has spent the last 20 or so years traveling, chasing birds and writing. Several of his books focus on birds, as does Enchanting Tales. An avid birder, and member of the Golden Gate Birding Alliance, has for years led birders during the annual Christmas Bird Count sponsored by Golden Gate and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and spends much of his free time in the hills and Bayshore areas near his home looking for birds .Jim's previous books have focused on his travels and birding activities.

Michael Gilmore has always loved the open spaces and rolling hills of the East Bay. Early on he discovered an artistic talent which he developed through sketching the world around him. In his career as a general contractor and construction litigation expert, Mike utilized his ability to use graphic representations to tell stories. As he travels throughout the U.S. and Europe, Mike can be found sketching to chronicle his experiences.
